Smile with Pride: Seattle Pride Parade!

July 1, 2024

We joined the LGBTQIA+ community and the Seattle Pride organization to celebrate Now!, the 50th annual Seattle Pride Parade in downtown Seattle on Sunday, June 30.

The annual Seattle Pride Parade is a free, fun, community-wide celebration advancing awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues and promoting mutual respect and equal human rights for all. It marches along 4th Ave with some of Seattle’s most beloved community groups, civic leaders, brands, and businesses. The Parade is all about inclusiveness – so all ages gather along the route to watch the festivities.

The Seattle Pride Parade is the largest parade in Washington, with 300,000+ parade goers and 275+ participating groups. In its 50th year of celebration, the Seattle Pride Parade is an opportunity to commemorate the past, celebrate new wins for equality, and get encouragement for the work yet to come. Echoing the call of the first Pride rally, the theme this year was “Now!,” a reminder of how far the community has come and of the work remaining.

Delta Dental of Washington has sponsored the Pride Parade since 2017 and we always have a blast. This year, a group of employees wore balloon backpacks, carried huge toothbrushes made from balloons, marched with Pride, and passed out rainbow toothbrushes along the parade route. Our Tooth Fairy waved to the crowd, engaged with children along the route and passed out toothbrushes and stickers!

Being surrounded by parade goers celebrating and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community personified Seattle Pride’s motto: “We can do more good when we do it together.”

Delta Dental of Washington sponsors the Seattle Pride Parade as a part of its goals to help create unity, honor diversity, and support equal human rights for all. Our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community extends year-round, including efforts to connect folks to LGBTQIA+ friendly dentists and sponsoring continuing education for dentists on culturally appropriate care.

We believe every smile counts. That’s why our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community lasts all year long. Our mission's core is to help more people gain access to oral healthcare. To make sure we’re reaching as many people as possible, we are also committed to publishing ongoing guides, resources, and articles about how LGBTQIA+ people, specifically, can protect their oral health.

Pride is not just top of mind in June, or about parades and events. Pride is an ongoing movement to create healthy, vibrant, and sustainable communities everywhere. We are honored to be a positive, proud partner in this larger movement.
