Employee Benefits Overview


  • Competitive Compensation – we offer a competitive base salary and an annual incentive bonus to all regular employees.
  • Medical insurance – our employees have a choice of two medical plans. The preferred provider (PPO) plan makes use of the First Choice provider network, while the health maintenance organization (HMO) plan is provided through Group Health Cooperative.
  • Dental insurance – the Delta Dental Premier network is offered with an incentive program feature to encourage regular dental care. The company’s plan initially pays 70% of covered individual’s claims. The payment percentage increases 10% per year (up to 100%) if program benefits are used.
  • Vision insurance is offered through Vision Service Plan (VSP), with both an in-network benefit and an out-of-network benefit.
  • 401(k) plan - our dollar for dollar match on the first 8% you contribute is one of the highest in the state.
  • Paid vacation and 11 paid holidays (9 scheduled days and 2 floating days to use when you choose.)
  • Sick Leave - 12 sick days are accrued each year and may be carried forward if they are not used.
  • Short and Long term paid disability insurance - we provide a financial safety net beyond regular sick leave benefits in those instances when employees suffer a serious illness or injury.
  • Employee Vacation Leave Donation Program - Washington Dental Service’s employees may donate accrued vacation days to support other employees who suffer from a severe or extraordinary illness or who have caregiver responsibilities for a spouse or child with a severe or extraordinary illness, and who have used all of their sick and vacation leave.
  • Life insurance equal to 2 times your base salary will be paid for by the company.
  • Bereavement leave up to 5 days may be taken.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available to employees and their families.
  • Jury Duty – employees are encouraged to fulfill their individual civic responsibility. When employees are called for jury duty; they receive their full, regular straight time salary in addition to jury duty pay received.
  • Wellness program (subsidizes the cost of specified programs, activities, or seminars that promote wellness) including up to $40 per month for Health Club membership.
  • Tuition reimbursement program – we encourage employees to further their education and qualifications for work within the Company by providing an educational expense reimbursement program that supports employees completing degree programs at accredited institutions.
  • Employer-paid Metro transit passes or Vanpool subsidy of $75.00 per month.
  • Free employee parking at all our locations.
  • Interest free loan to purchase a computer.
  • Matching contribution to approved non-profit organizations.

Certain benefits require a minimum of 3 months of employment before they are available to employees. Our current year benefits summary will be distributed at the time of hire.
