Roberta Jones Greene, MS, PhD (honorary), Chair WDS Foundation
Roberta Greene has been a member of the Washington Learns Steering Committee and was the Chair of the Higher Ed Advisory Committee, created and led by Governor Christine Gregoire.
Ms. Greene served on the Spokane City Council for two terms, 1996-2003. She has taught business and economics courses at Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, North Carolina and Erie Community College, Buffalo, New York. Ms. Greene served as Vice-President, Sales Development at Empire Ford in Spokane, Washington for 22 years. Ms. Greene is a tireless advocate for education and is a well respected civic leader in the Spokane community. She has sat on various local and statewide boards and has received numerous local and national awards. She is currently serving as the WDS Foundation Chair and has served as a Trustee since 2001. Ms. Greene has served on the Washington Dental Service Board since 2001.
She received her Masters of Science (M.S.) Urban Studies from Trinity University and was presented an honorary Ph.D. from Gonzaga University.
Richard R. Albrecht
Richard R. Albrecht is a Senior Counsel at Perkins Coie, the largest law firm based in the Pacific Northwest. He is retired from The Boeing Company, where he served in various executive positions, including Executive Vice President-Commercial Airplane Group, with responsibility for all commercial relations with customers. He was the General Counsel for the U.S. Treasury Department and served as an Associate and Partner with Perkins Coie.
Mr. Albrecht has served on numerous public company boards, including Esterline Technologies Corporation, Washington Mutual and Rainier Bancorporation. His service on nonprofit boards includes Virginia Mason Medical Center, the Museum of Northwest Art, and the Pacific Legal Foundation, as well as service as a Regent of Washington State University.
He has been a member of the WDS Foundation Board of Trustees since 2004, and has served on the Washington Dental Service Board since 2001.
Mr. Albrecht attended the University of Iowa, where he received his B.S. and J.D.
David Branch DDS
David W. Branch is a general dentist practicing in downtown Seattle. Dr. Branch graduated from University of Washington School of Dentistry with a DDS degree. He was an Assistant Operative Professor in the Restorative Department from 1974 through 1983 and was a member of the Dental School Admissions Committee from 1970 through 1979.
Dr. Branch has served on the WDS Foundation Board of Trustees since 2005 and has served on the Washington Dental Service Board of Directors since 2005. He presently serves as Vice Chair of the WDS Board and will serve as Chair from 2010 to 2012.
Dr. Branch’s also provides dental services on a voluntary basis at the Union Gospel Mission (since 1997) and in 2000, provided services at a free dental clinic in Muchok, Nepal.
James D. Dwyer, WDS President and CEO
James D. Dwyer began his current position as President and Chief Executive Officer of Washington Dental Service in 2002.
Mr. Dwyer served on the Board of Trustees at Seattle University, and also chaired the University’s Board of Regents. He is also on the Board of the Center for Leadership Formation at Seattle University. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. He has been recognized with numerous civic awards, including International Business Person of the Year by the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce and the Distinguished Public Service Award by Seattle University. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the 1990 Goodwill Games Organizing Committee. He also serves on the boards of WDS, OCS-Dentra (a dental analytics company which is developing a dental analytics product) and Healthentica.
Mr. Dwyer graduated from Seattle University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing, received a law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, and attended the Harvard Graduate School of Business Program for Management Development.
Irene Hunter DDS
Dr. Irene Hunter is a practicing general dentist from Tenino, Washington. She has volunteered her time at SPSCC as a clinical instructor and advisory board member for the dental assisting program for 22 years. She is currently the Thurston County Champion for the ABCD program. Dr. Hunter served on the Board of Directors for Washington Dental Service from 1998 to 2007. She has been an active member of the Board of Trustees for Washington Dental Service Foundation since 2001 and served as Chair from 2005 through 2007.
Dr. Hunter received her D.D.S. from the University of Washington.
Frederick C. Kiga, JD, MBA
Mr. Kiga is the Vice President of State and Local Government Relations and Global Corporate Citizenship for the Boeing Company. Mr. Kiga previously was the Director of Corporate and Government Relations for Russell Investment Group.
Prior to that position, he served as director of the Washington state Department of Revenue and then became the chief of staff for former Washington state Governor Gary Locke. He currently serves on a number of professional/civic boards and commissions, including the University of Washington Board of Regents, Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, Capitol Hill Housing Improvement Program, the Association of Washington Business, Northwest Area Foundation, and One Reel."
Mr. Kiga has BA and JD/MBA degrees from the University of Washington. He has been a member of WDS Foundation board since 2007.
Thomas Locke, MD, MPH
Dr. Thomas Locke is the Health Officer for Clallam and Jefferson Counties, a Clinical Consultant for the Port Gamble S’Klallam Health Clinic, and the Medical Director for the Volunteers in Medicine in the Olympics Clinic in Port Angeles. He serves on numerous professional organizations, including the Washington State Medical Association's Interspecialty Advisory Council. Dr. Locke’s commitment to public health has garnered multiple awards and distinctions, such as the Washington Health Foundation's Heroes of Health Care in 2004 and the Warren Featherstone Reid Award for Excellence in Health Care presented by Governor Christine Gregoire in 2005. Dr. Locke joined the WDS Foundation board in 2008.
Dr. Locke received his M.D. from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and his M.P.H from the University of Washington. He is Board Certified in Preventive Medicine and Public Health.
Russell Maier, MD
Dr. Russell Maier is program director of Central Washington Family Medicine Residency and a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Maier has published numerous health related articles and presents on educating physicians about oral health throughout the United States. In addition to the WDSF Board of Trustees, he is founding chair and currently co-chairs the Society of Teachers in Family Medicine group on Oral Health, chairs Yakima's Regional Hospital Education Committee and serves on the Yakima County Children's Oral Health Coalition, the Yakima County Medical Society, and the South Central Chapter of Washington Academy of Family Physicians. He has served on the WDS Foundation Board of Trustees since 2004.
Dr. Maier received his M.D. from the University of Washington and his BA from Carleton College.
Neil L. McReynolds
Mr. McReynolds is President of McReynolds Associates, Inc., a board governance consulting firm, and is an adjunct professor, teaching “CEO and board governance” in the MBA program at the University of Washington. He has served on more than 50 governing boards over the years and has chaired many of them, such as the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Eastern Washington University, Seattle-King County Economic Development Council and Bellevue Community College. He has served as President of the Downtown Seattle Rotary Club, the Rainier Club and the Northwest Electric Light & Power Association.
For 15 years, he was at Puget Sound Power & Light (now Puget Sound Energy), serving first as Vice President and then Senior Vice President. His other management roles included being Editor of the Bellevue American newspaper, Press Secretary and a top aide to Washington Governor Dan Evans, Northwest Regional Manager for ITT Corporation and Vice President of Kaiser Permanente/Group Health in the Northwest. Currently, in addition to his consulting and teaching, he is on the Board of HomeStreet Bank and serves as a Strategic Advisor for Buerk Dale Victor, a Seattle-based venture capital firm.
Mr. McReynolds served on the Washington Dental Service Board from 1996 to 2006 and was Board Chair the last two years. He has been a member of the WDS Foundation board since 2001 and currently chairs the Finance & Governance Committee.
Alejandro Narváez, DDS
Dr. Alejandro Narváez has been the Dental Director at Sea Mar Community Health Centers since 1982. Sea Mar is community-based organization committed to providing comprehensive health and human services to diverse communities, specializing in service to Latinos. Over the last 26 years he has helped established 13 Sea Mar dental health clinics spanning from Bellingham to Vancouver. He has served on the Washington Dental Service Foundation Board of Trustees since 2006.
Dr. Narvaez received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University and his D.D.S. degree from the University of Washington, School of Dentistry.
Gerald Phipps, DMD
Dr. Gerald Phipps is a practicing Orthodontist in Spokane. He is a member of the Spokane District Dental Society, the Washington State Dental Association, the Washington Society of Orthodontists, and is a founding member of the Spokane Orthodontic Study Group. Dr. Phipps is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
He has served on the WDS Foundation Board of Trustees since 2004.
He received his D.M.D. and his M.S. in Orthodontics from Washington University School of Dental Medicine, St. Louis.
Eve Rutherford, DDS
Dr. Eve Rutherford is a practicing dentist in Snohomish, WA. Dr. Rutherford has championed the Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (ABCD) program in Snohomish County and is an Affiliate Faculty for the University of Washington Department Of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Rutherford has received the University of Washington Governance and Service Award and the ADA/Dentsply Student Clinician Program Award. She has served on the WDSF Board of Trustees since 2008.
Dr. Rutherford received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology with Honors from Scripps College and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington.
R. Gary Schweikhardt
Mr. Gary Schweikhardt is the President & CEO of Washington Biotechnology Funding, Inc. (WBF), a venture capital fund, and retired CEO of Epigenomics, Inc. a biotechnology company. He has co-founded and managed more than a dozen technology-based companies and has served as an executive of The Boeing Company.
He has served on boards of various professional and civic organizations, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and several boards and visiting committees at the University of Washington. He has been an invited speaker and author for educational and science-related organizations.
Mr. Schweikhardt has served on the Washington Dental Service Board of Directors since 2001 and the Washington Dental Service Foundation board since 2007. In addition to participating on other WDS committees, he now serves as Chair of the Board and serves on the OCS-Dentra Board (a dental analytics company which is developing a dental analytics product).
Mr. Schweikhardt received a B.S. and M.S., Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington; and a Master of Science and an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
